Alex: Hello everyone, and welcome back to ClearTalk English!
Emma: We are so happy to have you here with us today.
Alex: Today we are talking about a very common topic.
Emma: Yes! We are talking about jobs and our work life.
Alex: When you meet someone new, they often ask about your job.
Emma: That is true. People love to ask, what do you do for a living?
Alex: That question simply means, what is your job?
Emma: It can feel a little scary to answer in English at first.
Alex: But do not worry! We will make it very easy today.
Emma: You do not need big, fancy words to describe your work.
Alex: Simple sentences are always the best way to start.
Emma: We will show you how to talk about where you work.
Alex: We will also talk about what you do every day.
Emma: And we will discuss working in an office versus working from home.
Alex: I really enjoy working with my computer every single day.
Emma: Me too, Alex! It gives us so much flexibility.
Alex: So sit back, relax, and listen carefully to our conversation.
Emma: Try to repeat the sentences in your head as we speak.
Alex: Let us jump right into our first big question!
Emma: Let us get started!
Alex: Emma, when someone asks you what you do, what is the easiest answer?
Emma: The easiest sentence pattern is, I am a, followed by your job title.
Alex: For example, I am a teacher, or I am an engineer.
Emma: Exactly. You can also say, I work as a designer.
Alex: Both ways are very natural and easy to remember.
Emma: Remember to use 'an' if your job starts with a vowel sound.
Alex: Right, like I am an accountant, or I am an artist.
Emma: Another great way is to name the company or the place.
Alex: Yes, you can say, I work at a hospital, or I work at a bank.
Emma: You can also say, I work for a large company.
