Alex: Hello and welcome to ClearTalk English! I am your host, Alex.
Emma: And I am Emma! We are so happy you are joining us today.
Alex: Today, we are talking about a very fun and delicious topic.
Emma: Yes, we are! Today is all about restaurant English.
Alex: Eating out at a restaurant in a new language can feel a bit scary.
Emma: It really can! You walk inside, and suddenly people ask you many questions.
Alex: Exactly. You see a long list of food, and you wonder what to say.
Emma: Do not worry at all. Today, we will make everything super simple for you.
Alex: We will guide you step by step, from walking through the front door to paying your bill.
Emma: We will practice useful phrases you can use right away.
Alex: You will learn how to ask for a seat, choose your meal, and talk to your server.
Emma: And by the end of this episode, you will feel ready to eat anywhere in English!
Alex: That sounds fantastic. So, are you hungry, Emma?
Emma: I am always hungry, Alex! Let us get started.
Alex: Let us begin with the very first step: arriving at the restaurant.
Emma: When you walk inside, you usually meet a host or hostess near the door.
Alex: The host will often greet you with a friendly smile.
Emma: They might say, 'Hello! How many people are in your party today?'
Alex: In English, the word party can mean a group of people dining together.
Emma: That is right. It does not mean a dance party with music!
Alex: Right! So you can simply say, 'A table for two, please.'
Emma: Or if you are alone, you can say, 'Just one, please.'
Alex: If you are with a family, you can say, 'A table for four, please.'
Emma: Notice how we always add the word please at the end.
Alex: Yes, please makes your request polite and friendly.
Emma: What if you called ahead and booked a table earlier in the day?
Alex: Good question! You can say, 'Hi, I have a reservation under the name Alex.'
Emma: The host will check their list and say, 'Right this way, please.'
Alex: Then they will walk you over to your table and give you something important.
Emma: They will hand you the menu!
