Alex: Hello everyone and welcome back to ClearTalk English! I am Alex.
Emma: And I am Emma! We are so happy to have you with us today.
Alex: Today, we are talking about something very exciting, but also very stressful.
Emma: Oh, definitely. We are talking about planning a surprise party for a close friend.
Alex: Have you ever tried to organize a secret celebration, Emma?
Emma: Yes, I have! It takes so much work to keep everything hidden.
Alex: It really does. You need secret messages, perfect timing, and a lot of luck.
Emma: And one small mistake can completely ruin the whole plan!
Alex: That is so true. Today, we will share our personal stories and useful English words.
Emma: You will learn how to describe secret plans, party logistics, and funny mistakes.
Alex: These words are super common when you talk with friends about social events.
Emma: So listen closely, relax, and practice speaking along with us!
Alex: Let us jump right in. Emma, tell us about your biggest surprise party.
Emma: Last year, I planned a thirtieth birthday party for my best friend Sarah.
Alex: Turning thirty is a huge milestone! How did you start the planning?
Emma: First, I had to create a fake excuse. We call that a cover story.
Alex: A cover story is a false story you tell someone to hide the real truth.
Emma: Exactly. I told Sarah that we were just going to a quiet dinner together.
Alex: That is a classic cover story! It sounds completely normal and not suspicious.
Emma: Right. But while she thought it was simple, twenty friends were waiting at her house.
Alex: How did you get her out of her own house for hours?
Emma: I used a decoy! My sister invited Sarah for an afternoon shopping trip.
Alex: A decoy is a person or thing used to distract someone from the secret.
Emma: Yes! The decoy kept Sarah busy while everyone else prepared the living room.
Alex: That is brilliant teamwork. Planning requires you to coordinate many different people.
Emma: When you coordinate, you organize people and tasks so they work together smoothly.
Alex: Did the guests arrive on time?
Emma: Most of them did, because I asked them to RSVP early.
Alex: To RSVP means to reply to an invitation and confirm if you can come.
Emma: It stands for a French phrase, but in English, we use it as a verb.
